Painting An Angel's Presence

Painting An Angel's Presence

Behind the Painting "Through the Clouds"

This painting came to me much like the other figurative paintings of mine. All my figuratives I didn't plan on painting it at that time. I was doing a pure abstract blending some colors in this pretty color palette was going on. As artists do, we get back and look and go up and paint some more. Go get back and look... And so I got back and looked at it. Here it goes again, there comes another one. I could see the figure coming out and I could see the wing and the angel is looking towards the light and I thought ok this is when i created it and um. So I embellished it and kept working on it, enhancing all of it and it came out to be a beautiful painting. I named it "Through the Clouds."

You know I believe in angels, I'm a spiritual guy and always have been. I dont understand it, its a big mystery. All of this thing we call life is a great mystery... but as I pain, sometimes I get into the zone. I let my mind open up and let things come out as they would. I make the analogy of writing your signature. When you wrote your signature the first time, you made your lines go up or down or backhanded... however, nobody told you to do that. When I paint, I think its the same thing. From the heart to the head goes out on my brush onto the canvas. What makes my hand go this way or that way with pure abstracts? I'm not sure, but these angels seem to appear. I have a feeling that they come out for a purpose for the hope, health, and healing that angels give you... and it's showing the love.

When I paint an angel, sometimes I think that person that connects with it may need an angel in their life. They need a little extra love and hope. It seems like one thing leads to the next. My painting is the start and then that angel comes into the family, helps someone then.. and then it's going to be passed on down to their family or inspiring me to do another angel that is going to help someone else.

We can all use a few more angels in our life, and I'll be painting them when they pop out on the canvas.
